success!

Well, partial success anyways. Came third in our group of five, won two lost two and that could easily of been 2nd if my partner hadn't had the most unreliable serve ever.

Actually thats far too bitchy, I'm really sorry, He played really well and I was impressed with a lot of his long shots and the way he kept his head up even when we were up against it. Not everyone was so lucky with their draw for partners.

In other news:

Notfussed.com is back, sort of. Notfussed was a group of people I used to do some writing with and for for a couple of years. Its demise in 2003 directly related to me actually starting this blog. I had no vent for my random spleen so I had to start somewhere. Hopefully it'll be back up fully soon. Just working on a couple of pieces for it now.

The Enemy have been accurately compared to the Jam but with a spark and vitality that is definitely this century. excellent stuff.

Coffee is one of my primary treats, in fact I wrote a whole diatribe on it in a piece of fiction that will probably never see the light of day. In fact here it is;
"3: How do I get some coffee?

Coffee, for me, is the universal language of the morning. It does not matter if you rise in your exquisite flat in Pall Mall or in a rough Yurt in deepest Asia, the grinding of the roasted beans and the brewing in hot, not boiling, water is a mantra that steadies the nerves and comforts the soul. The mere running through of the ritual is enough to start you on the road to cope with what ever fate may strew in your path that day and then the magical properties of the draft will imbue you with the courage to at least begin the day in the correct frame of mind. "

I do feel the need to point out its written in the style of an 18th century writer who's just been dispatched to pre-seige paris while the Prussian hordes are massing. The main reason I haven't done anything further with it is I can't decide to make it fully historically accurate or turn it into a 'birth of steampunk' type work.

The history angle will probably win out as its a fascinating, and relatively unexplored period in history without steam powered robots and Zeppelins being thrown into the mix.

Got another weekend of rugby goodness today and that'll probably be it until the Wales tour of South Africa in summer. Its been quite a season even without the grand slam. Its cemented my support of Welsh rugby in general, I think its a fantastic game and much more eventful than a premiership match. IMOHO

evening.

Ah the joys of flexi-time, leaving work at the indecent hour of 4PM on a friday. Or 'heaven' as I like to call it.

First of all I should explain at my previous job the hours were much stricter but the internet policy was looser meaning that although I had to stay at my desk until 5:30 everyday I could basically spend the last ten minutes of the day updated the blog.

Now I can't so i actually have to come home from staring at the computer in work all day and physically turn on my home Mac to update.

Now I don't know about you guys but when I get home the last thing I want to do is turn on the computer! anyway, what this policy ahs meant is that my actual writing has had a lot more time spent on it at lunchtimes and such as theres no net access. which is great, I've had some quite reasonable ideas recently and it was great to give them the time they deserved!

Well whats been going on. Urm I've made a new batch of Beer which'll be ready in time for fake xmas (A Taylor family tradition), Ems made more bread and cakes than is probably decent, halloween went with not one trick or treater(never mind, more candy for me), been watching more and more rugby (hoorah) and some aussie rules football(impressive). Works great. Home life is perfect and I'm readlly happy with my fiction.

Life (as Tim burgess had it) is Sweet.

Dreamz

(If you don't care about rugby you should probably skip forward to the next post.)

You are NEVER going to believe the dream I had last night! In defiance of all the known laws of both God and Man, both France AND England beat the supposedly superior teams of New Zealand and Australia to reach the semi finals of the World cup. It was so vivid but I know it was clearly a dream as I was supporting England against the cheating dirty whinging Aussies. What was the excuse this time Austrialia? Did you put your under 15 squad out? Or was that your full strength team being DEMOLISHED by the England front row in the manner they practiced against the Welsh before the world cup?

WHAT? You mean that beautiful dream is real? Thank you God! Thank you Jehova! Thank you Tom Cruise!

Define Irony. Irony is talking yourself up to the press that you're going to win the word cup and then getting beaten by a side that got killed against South Africa 36-nil. Its a beautiful day.

England 62-5 Wales

No excuses. No talking around it. No questions. We. Got. Beasted.

England were a quality side ready and prepared for a genuine international. We looked like we'd been in the pub all morning and then emerged, blinking, into a packed Twickenham that just laughed at us.

The only thing that makes it worse is I now have to buy an English colleague lunch on friday as we put a small wager on the result.

bah.

End of Season.

No more rugby.

No more rushing home on a Friday to catch the highlights of the weeks games.

No more RBS podcasts listing the errors and woes of your team.

No more last minute penalties and desperate drives for the line.

No more dancing feet, up and unders or pressured scrums.

No more hero's no more villains.

No more chants, songs or hymns.

No more heart stopping moments or TV referrals.

No more questioning the lineage or vision of the ref.

(Until September, when the World Cup starts.)

Italian disaster for Wales.

.from mobile.
Well wales lose and the rest of the rugby playing world laugh. And i die a little inside.

Italy played well but some poor reffing contributes to some sore Welsh losers tonight and some sore Welsh heads tomorrow. Including mine.
